Appellation: Wildcat Vineyard, Mount Veeder, Napa Valley
Production: 90 cases
Fermentation: Open-top fermenters
Barrel Aging: 26 months in French oak (60% new & 40% used once) plus one year in bottle prior to release.
Tasting Notes: Dark and pronounced. Black fruit, toasty oak and baking spices abound. The fruit comes at you early followed by moderate tannins that provide weight and structure behind the deep flavors. The finish is long and smooth, offering a unique masculine elegance to the wine. The moderately higher acid level will provide endurance for long aging.
Varietal: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a single clone - CS169 - planted in the Terraces lot of the Wildcat Vineyard. Typically, we blend this clone and lot with Clone 15 from the upper portion of the vineyard to make our flagship Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon. While tasting the lots in barrel, Clone 169 was showing incredible backbone and balance, so we decided he was worthy of a standalone bottling.
Aging Potential: Ready to drink now and will benefit from an hour or so in the decanter. It will continue to age for 10 to 15 years.
Alcohol: 14.6%
